Esau Kessler who recently graduated from the Boise Public Art Academy was one of 17 entrants selected to participate in The Tiny Library project.
His team artist Anthony Emerson, and Fabricator Elizabeth Gilbertson submitted a concept titled “Grow” for a hut or gazebo located inside of one of the North End’s community gardens known as “The Downtown Teaching Farm.”
While the proposal was not funded, the panel was very positive on the concept. Esau intends to move the project forward now that there is approval from the garden. His firm Massive Happiness will be continuing the parametric modeling and design and a more complete proposal.
One of the initial concepts was a giant mecha warrior fabricated from milk crates with a topic specific SciFi library inside the stomach. However, this wasn’t really tiny, it was huge.
The secondary mission of the “Grow” project is to install additional hut/gazeebos in the bench area to promote both community & literacy among the refugee community who often frequent the gardens.
